CSA Directory

Why Join a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSAs see consumers and farmers in a partnership, sharing in the risks and benefits of growing good food. It is intended to provide financial support for the farm in the early part of the season when the start up costs are high but there is little revenue as vegetables are only starting to grow. CSA members invest in the farm in the spring and are “reimbursed” with a weekly share of the farm produce throughout the season. In this model, the member has a stake in the success of the farm and is directly contributing to the production of their food. It is a great way to support a local farm and receive a share of healthy, organically produced food. This is the “traditional” CSA model, now you can find many different ways CSAs or veggie box schemes work. Have a look at the options in your region and find the one best suited to your needs!

  • Support a small, local business and strengthen the local economy

  • Decrease food miles: your produce will come from your region

  • The freshest veggies

  • Know who grows your food! See if you can visit the gardens and get involved with the folks growing your food.
