Land Available - Hastings, Hawke’s Bay

Land and Business Opportunity

General Description of Land: We are on a flat 10 acre site just 5km south of Hastings in the Hawkes Bay. We are running organically but are not certified. There is an established market garden onsite and loads (literally truckloads!) of organic materials available including woodchip mulch and chicken litter. We have processing facilities and shedding which can be shared. There are horses and a mix of tree / animal / garden / activities all happening on the farm. We are lacking people resource to take advantage of the opportunities. My ideal situation would be to find business partner/s to continue creating a thriving business around the farm. There is already a knowledgeable and hardworking person employed in the garden 30 hours per week, but this is not enough to keep up with the growth we are experiencing.

Aroha Organic Farm has been accepted to the very busy Hawkes Bay Farmers market and is in a position from which a sustainable thriving business is ready to unfold. I really enjoy the wider farm activities, rotational grazing of the horses and tending the fledgling food forest. The garden is a valuable part of the farm enterprise, and I have the financial and admin experience to run that side of things along with customer service. We need somebody to do the very important job of production planning and quantity management to ensure a steady supply for our very reliable customer base. We also need to increase production in a sustainable way to make room for our new customers. Ideally this person may also take on the seeding for transplants and growing microgreens, and could front the farmers market in a shared rotation and contribute to the day to day running of the garden. There is plenty of space if you would like to start your own enterprise as well.
